The most impressive thing about UHD is that it will display 4K video. What if you want to play video of that quality on your computer? Now you can with DearMob’s 5K Player. 5K player is a the world’s first UHD video and audio player. The app provides extensive file support and will play 4K, HD, 3D videos, DVD and radio. Plus, the video player will play MKV, M@TS, MP4, AVI, WMV, FLV video files.

What really makes this video player unique is that it supports AirPlay streaming technology. It ensures that people can easily stream videos or music from iOS devices to the Mac wirelessly and even mirror content to AirPlay enabled devices like an Apple TV. Click to Enlarge. In addition to 5K Player being a very high-quality video and audio player, it can also act as a media library. Once you load videos into 5K Player, you can create an entire media library. Simply open the file and then save it to your Favorites or a Playlist.

5K Player will also allow you to download videos directly from YouTube and other internet sources. 5K Player also has a video converter built-in to the app. It will convert online videos to MP3 or AAC music format or to the H264 video format. In testing this feature, I took a 4.5 minute long 4K video and converted it to an AAC file. This conversion process only took about 20 seconds. It was very fast and when it was done, the file was automatically placed in my music files. Goat simulator for mac download free.

I did find the controls a little clumsy in that the audio would continue playing even after the media control was set to ‘pause.’ I’m not sure what is causing this, but I’m sure it will be addressed with future releases of the software. If you are looking for a solid piece of software that will play 4K video and connect to AirPlay, I would recommend giving 5k Player. It’s a free download for Mac. For more information, visit. I agree that it’s a useful tool for Macs especially when trying to play video formats that Quicktime can’t open.

My BIG gripe though is that it seems to take over and become the Default player for ALL videos, even those coded as.mov/.mpeg etc. I consistently have to go into the info windows on those files and set Quicktime as the default app. I then click on the “Change all” option to keep 5k Player from opening them. Yet when I log-out or shutdown my computer and re-start later, the same issue starts all over. 5k has somehow become the default player again! It’s bothersome enough that I’m about ready to erase it from my system and find another program that, though may not be as useful, doesn’t surreptitiously over-ride my control.
