Mac Mini For Photo Editing 2015

Hey everyone Now me and my girlfriend are looking into a startup project involving video editing. Now we don't have a computer to start small as we've succumbed to the age of tablets and whatnot, so we're going to have to invest in a computer to edit and encode video, I'm going to need to play with 1080p at least - I would like 4K but I'm happy to wait to upgrade to that later. My point is I've looked at building a Windows PC for cheapness but the fact is it's not turning out to be that cheap and I was wondering if any Mac mini would do the job in anyone's opinion as I prefer to put my money into something I want I.e. A Mac Thank you • • • • •. Depends, annoyingly enough. When people say 'video editing', I'm never sure if they know what they're talking about. If it's just cutting video, using only simple transitions, with very little compositing, then you could probably make do with a mac mini and iMovie.

But if you're wanting to cut with FCPX, or even Premiere, and especially if you want to composite using something like After Effects, then I'm thinking you're not going to have a good time with a mini. If you do, then load up with RAM from the very start, and max out your processor. Well for real video editing (everything you need Adobe Premiere or a similar software for) i would strongly speak against a mac mini. Core Specs you should have for 1080p editing should be: i7-2,5Ghz 16GB RAM SSD Hard drive Any Cuda/Open-CL enabled Video Card Since no mac mini has a video card for rendering don't buy it if you are serious about video editing. As for smaller videos we have one iMac (would guess mid 2013) w/o video card and just i5 core and it works. Quickboks for mac. But exporting times or applying any filter/ transition/ effect is super slow. I would go for a windows desktop, with a decent video card and a i7 from last year you should stay well below 1000$ upgrading to 4k would be quite easy and just cost you a better video card for more hardware rendering • • • •.

Make an edit here, see it there. When you make changes on your Mac like editing a photo, marking a Favorite, or adding to an album, they’re kept up to date on your iPhone, your iPad, and iCloud.com. And vice versa — any changes made on your iOS devices are automatically reflected on your Mac.
