Avast Security for Mac provides a range of scans to protect your Mac from malware and network threats. You can also create your own scan with parameters specified by you. Refer to the sections in this article for details about available scan options. Access the Scans To open the Scan section in Avast Security for Mac: • Click the Avast Menu bar icon and select Open Avast from the context menu. • Select Scan.

The devices that are being scanned appear under the scan progress bar. Schedule scan To create a scheduled scan: • Click Schedule next to Scheduled scan. • Use the drop-down menu under Select scan type to select which scan you want to schedule.

• Use the drop-down menu under Launch to select how often the scan runs ( Weekly is selected by default). • Select a launch date and time. • Click Create scan. The scan appears under Scheduled Scan in the main Scan section.

Adjust scan settings. Although customizable settings are available for some predefined scans, we recommend you only modify settings for. • Click Settings in the section of the scan you want to customize.

• Tick your preferred areas to scan. • In the Excluded paths section, you can set an exclusion for a file or a folder that you do not want to scan: • Click the plus icon. • Select a path to a file or a folder to exclude it and click Choose to confirm.
