How To Change The Model Identifier For Mac Pro

среда 05 декабряadmin

Model Identifier. Each Apple device has its own model identifier. My MacPro from early 2008 has is known as a MacPro3,1. This identifier can be found in System Report and is useful when troubleshooting certain issues.

Despite the grief heaped on the much unloved 2014 Mini in this forum, my late 2014 2.6 Ghz i5 w/only 8 GB RAM Mac Mini, easily out performs the early 2011 2.2 Ghz i7 w/16Gb RAM MacBook Pro it replaced (when its discrete graphics card died and could no longer support an external monitor). The only beach balls I’ve seen are when external drives are spinning up.

I use the 2014 Mini as my main computer for email, web browsing, complex financial spreadsheets/models, photo storage/editing, video storage/editing, presentation development (PowerPoint) including animation and embedded video, QGIS, etc. I’m still interested in the new Mac Mini, we hope will be announced on Oct 30th. BUT I won’t be buying a new model Mini until after the MacOS/hardware dust settles sometime next year. Even then, I’ll keep my 2014 Mini, because it isn’t limited to software that only runs on “Mojave and newer”. Click to expand. If you want to judge it compared to a computer from 2007, well of course it's better.

As long as it meets your needs and budget, then it's all good. But I also have one of these and agree it's horrible for a general use computer. Mine just runs iTunes 24/7 with homesharing and a large library on a fast external drive.

It's more than adequate for that so I have no complaints. But there is just NO WAY I would find this an acceptable computer for general everyday use.

Change

The thing that always amazes me is System Preferences, when I want to make some small change to the settings. It takes over 30 seconds of the bouncing icon before the preference window even appears.

My Mac serial number is C02HLLC7DV13, the main-board of this Mac has gone faulty and I need to change it, unfortunately I am traveling and need the correct part number to check the prices in my home (India), the UK where I am currently in and the US. The numbers given just above my ram chips are the serial no. Quoted above and MBL Np. Best

C02216400XVDTMVAM and EMC No. 2555, I need to check for the prices in Ebay and some local partners, what references with regards to getting the main-board name correct, should I be using, thanks in advance.

C02HLLC7DV13 is not your MBP serial number. The machine serial has eleven characters, first character is a W just like this one (W8104E8VATM) last three characters identify the MBP model (ATM is for the 13' MBP 2.4ghz 2010 serie). But what you really need is the Apple logic board ID that you can find written at the left end of the logic board near the fan. First three numbers are 820 so it looks like this: 820-2879. If the MBP boot the OS you can find the machine serial number going to the Apple menu----> About this Mac.----> More Infos.
