I changed my Mac’s user password for security reasons and ever since, I have been getting messages about programs wanting my “Login Keychain Password.” What is this and why is it happening? The OS X operating system comes with its own password-management utility program called that stores your account names and accompanying passwords for file servers, programs, websites and other services you use with your Mac. (Apple also has a similar feature called that syncs usernames, passwords, credit-card numbers and other information for sites and services between Macs running OS X and mobile devices using iOS.) You may not have realized it at the time, but when you first went through the assistant programs that opened automatically and guided you through the setting up your new Mac for the first time.
