Skype For Mac Can't Connect

After installing the latest version of Skype to my laptop, I cannot connect. I am signed into my account, but cannot change my status from offline to any other status.

When I try to change it to 'online', and when I've selected someone in my contacts to communicate with, a yellow bar comes across the window saying 'Connecting.' But it never connects. I've tried restarting my computer. I've deleted the Skype application from my computer and reinstalled it.

I've checked the help suggestions, and checked my firewall and it is allowing Skype to make the connection. My laptop is a MacBook Pro, using macOS Sierra, version 10.12.5 Thanks for your help.

Hi, Welcome to the Skype Community Forum! Have you tried a 'complete' uninstall and reinstall of the Skype app? If not yet, please follow the instructions below: To completely uninstall, and then reinstall Skype for Mac: • Quit Skype by selecting Skype > Quit Skype.

• Open your Applications folder and drag your copy of Skype to the trash. • Then open ~/Library/Application Support * and drag the Skype folder to the trash.

The ~ sign represents your home folder. To find your home folder, open Finder and, from the menu bar, select Go > Home. Important: If you’d like to keep your chat and call history, skip this step. • Open ~/Library/Preferences and drag com.skype.skype.plist to the trash. • Open Finder and search for “Skype” using the search feature in Mac OS X.

Move all of the results returned to the trash. • Click Ctrl and the trash icon, and select Empty Trash. • Restart your computer. *By default, the Library folder is hidden in Mac OS X v10.7 “Lion” and higher. Also, if you have any anti-virus software/program installed on your device try disabling it for the meantime and run Skype to see if it works. Before going through this long and involved process, I would like to say that this problem only just appeared today when a new browser based version of Skype was introduced.

I installed that browser app, and from a browser my Skype account access seems to work, and shows me to be online. It is supposed to be compatible with the desktop Skype app, which I updated, but that does not show me to be online, and just says ``connecting'.

Memory upgrade for mac mini 2012. So it looks like this bug was introduced recently, and it would be a lot of trouble if everyone would have follow this long complete uninstall and reinstall process to fix it! As well, I also have a problem with the web for Skype. On web.skype.com I can sign in, and I can chat, but I can't call out and people can't call me. I have missed 3 work calls in the past week because of this problem and it's quite frustrating. I saw the announcement today that the connectivity problem is a current issue you are addressing.
