Hello, I have no idea why im here to be honest. I have a paid for installation of office 2011 for Mac, installed it on my machine with no issues. Unfortunatley that machine came to an unfortunate end and is no longer in use or accessable. I tried to install office 2011 on my new machine but the activation system isnt working. Called the active by phone number, typed in the huge installation ID and got transferred to an operator - he checked the installation ID and the gave me another huge confirmation ID - it didnt work. He then transferred me to 'technical' who asked me for yet more numbers etc and then said they were going to transfer me to another department which turned out to the the premium line or something and they couldnt help and hung up on me. I called back and got another operator who asked for my original product key which i started to give but as I didnt know the 'official' phonetic alphabet - hung up on me.

With regards to the error message, when I try to activate my office on the computer I just get a message saying the activation server is offline and I need to call the activation number (hence all the trouble above). This has been the same for several weeks now so I was assuming the activation server was taken offline when the product stopped being supported?

I did think that upgrading to 2016 would be my only option (im sure that might be Microsofts intended plan for making this so hard). I literally use Execl for a single and very basic spreadsheet so upgrading simply isnt worth it for me as 2011 does all I need and more. Kind regards Gary. As per my initial post, I have already called the activation hotline who were perticually unhelpfull and actually directed me to this site to get further assistance. Is there an official microsoft complaints procedure? I have paid for this software and Ive now been unable to use it for weeks. I have gone through the official route to get it activated and it seems Microsoft are just washing their hands of my problems (in my opinion so im FORCED to upgrade to a newer product that I do not need or want).
