You can check your license type easily. Open Word and go to the Word menu. Choose About Word. If you have a subscription, the dialog will say Office 365 subscription. I think it is highly unlikely you have such a subscription.

A perpetual license, which is what you probably have, does not expire. My guess is that you have a new hard drive and that instead of using Apple's Migration assistant or a disc image, you used some other method to bring your office install forward. If you use Apple's Migration assistant or restore from a disc image using Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, or some other app, you won't run into licensing issues.
