I'd like to share some information about the upcoming and all new Money-to-Quicken Converter that will be available for Quicken Windows 2009 and 2010. I am a software engineer partnering with both Microsoft and Intuit to build the new Money Converter conversion tool, and I can provide insight into the capabilities of this new feature. The project is nearing completion, so I hope to have a little extra time to answer questions here on Live Community about the new Money Converter. The new Money Converter is integrated into the product, meaning it will be as simple as going to the File/Import menu and selecting 'Import Microsoft Money file'. For those of you running previous versions of Money, I believe there's a plan to allow you to download a free trial version of Money 2008 so you can convert your older Money file(s) to Money 2008, and then import to Quicken. I do not have full details on this, but Intuit will make sure these instructions are published. Now, some specifics. The Money Converter is able to convert the following data from Money to Quicken: Accounts o Types: Checking, Savings, Credit, Cash, Asset, Liability, Loan, Investment, Investment Watch, Receivable. O Includes all account detail including currency, linked accounts, opening balance, loan terms, and a lot more. Transactions o Types: Banking (deposit, withdraw, transfer), and investment transactions o Transaction splits (a single transaction that has sub-transactions categorized/transferred differently).

O Handles special Employee Stock option transaction types o Handles special Bond scenarios like accrued interest o Handles special Investment Transfer In/Out. Note: Quicken does not support transferring open short positions. O All the typical fields: Cleared status, memo, payee, category/class data o Voided transactions o Note: There is no limit to the number of transactions in can convert, it will convert all transactions in your Money file. Security data o Types: Mutual Funds, Money Market, CD, Stock, Bonds, Index, ESO, Option, Other o All the typical fields: default accounting convention, watch flag, tax-exempt flag, exchange, comment o Additional data for CD and Bonds like maturity date, bond type and call date o Special linkage between Employee Stock option security and underlying security Currency data o Money's base currency becomes Quicken's home currency o Can convert any currency that's part of Quicken's default currency list. Custom Lot data o All specific identification lots are mapped over and applied to the converted transactions.

Categories/Classes o All non-hidden Money categories are converted. O Some are mapped to Quicken's special investment categories so reporting still works o Money's hierarchical Classes are normalized to a flat Quicken Tag structure. Tax Source data o For Category and Tax line mapping Historical Price data o Date, Price, High, Low, Volume data o Split events are applied as transactions in Quicken Scheduled transactions o Types: Transfers, Payments, Deposits, Payments/Bills, Paychecks and Investment Purchases.
